HES Student Wins 1st Place in the National Career Development Association's Poetry and Art Contest!

In November, HES students were given the opportunity to participate in the 55th NCDA Poetry and Art Contest which allowed them to create artwork or poetry depicting their dream career. Ms. Gadson, our school counselor, collected all of the student artwork and poetry and selected the winner for our school, Ivanieliz Melendez, from Ms. Frazier's kindergarten class! She drew and colored a picture of herself as a chef. Her artwork was sent to Columbia, SC for judging and she won first place the K-2nd grade category! Her artwork will be sent to the national competition next. Congratulations Ivanieliz and we wish you luck in the national competition! We are SO PROUD of you!!
