Good Afternoon,

In recognition of having a great week at HES, two wonderful moving up celebrations (Kindergarten & 5th),  an awesome musical production performed by our talented 3rd - 5th grade students, I have decided to make tomorrow a jeans day for the students. It is already a jeans day for the staff.  Please let your students know that they can wear jeans tomorrow with any Hardeeville Elementary School shirt, or a school uniform shirt.  Staff please wear a school shirt as well.

Fourth Grade Field Trip Letter

Dear 4th Grade Parents,

We, the 4th grade team would like to inform you that on Friday, April 20th, we will be going on a field trip to the South Carolina Aquarium in Charleston, SC.  There is no cost for attending if your child has paid $7.00.  If not, the cost for travel to the aquarium is $3.50. which is due on or before April 17th. In order to ride the bus, you must be a certified volunteer. Please go online to www.jcsd.net under the students and families, then volunteer services and complete the application. Please provide volunteer ID cards to your child’s teacher.

We have made accommodations to take 3 parents with us free of charge but we need to be informed in writing no later April 17th if you wish to go along with us.  Decisions will be made on first-come basis. All other parent chaperones will have to pay the general admission fee of $29.95 at the aquarium.  It is important that we have chaperones to help make this educational experience meaningful and successful for the students. Also, students will be allowed to bring extra money for the gift/snack shop and their personal devices. They will be responsible for these items. Students must dressed be in their uniform.

Below are some behavior polices from the SC Aquarium that we need you and child to be mindful of.

  1. FOR STUDENTS… I agree to:- Stay with my chaperone at all times. - Share the Aquarium with other groups and visitors by being courteous. - Use my inside voice, walk, refrain from climbing on the exhibits, and not chew gum or bring food or drinks inside the Aquarium. - Not play on the escalator or stairs and reserve the elevator for guests with strollers and wheelchairs. - Respect the animals by not trying to scare them, handling them roughly or tapping on the exhibit windows. - Not feed the birds on the terrace, in the Saltmarsh or outside on Liberty Square. - I understand that I will be required to pay for any item I break in the Aquarium Gift Shop.
  2. FOR CHAPERONES… I agree to:- Remain with my group and engage and monitor my students at all times. This applies to all grade levels. - When involved in a program or educational activity, refrain from behavior that may distract the group, such as talking on a cell phone or to another parent or teacher. - Assist students with dietary needs, bathroom breaks and other needs that may arise.

Thank you for all your support!
