State Superintendent Spearman Visits Jasper County Schools

Superintendent Donald Andrews was very pleased to welcome State Superintendent Molly Spearman to the Jasper County School District, to discuss areas of improvement for the benefit of all the children served.

Superintendent Spearman began her visit by touring Hardeeville and Ridgeland Elementary and Hardeeville-Ridgeland Middle Schools to speak with staff and students. Spearman visited classrooms, she talked to students about education and how it plays a vital role in their present and future.  She also expressed to staff members her appreciation for their commitment to the students of Jasper County.

According to the principals, students were thrilled about Spearman's visit. Andrews said, “Spearman is an outstanding educator and ambassador for public education in South Carolina.”

After touring the schools, Spearman met with the elementary and middle school principals along with Andrews to discuss academic challenges and possible solutions.

Andrews and Spearman also met with community leaders and parents. They discussed JCSD current academic status.  They collaborated ways to engage learners and share resources between the community and the district.

Staff and community members valued Spearman’s interest in the school district. This informative meeting is only the beginning to help improve the education for all students in the JCSD.
